We already knew Molly Shannon was coming aboard Pushing Daisies as a guest star.
Now, ABC has released the following press release with more information about this former Saturday Night Live star's upcoming role on the show
MOLLY SHANNON TO APPEAR IN THREE EPISODES OF ABC'S "PUSHING DAISIES"
Molly Shannon will appear in a three-episode arc of ABC's critically acclaimed new series "Pushing Daisies." Filming begins this week. Shannon will play Dilly Balsam, a competitor of Ned's (Lee Pace) who opens a rival sweets shop across the street from the Pie Hole.
Writer/actor Michael White ("The School of Rock," "The Good Girl") will play her brother, Billy Balsam.
We're sad to report that the role originally slated for Paul Reubens on Pushing Daisies has been recast.
According to ThePieMaker.com, Alfredo Aldarisio - your basic traveling homeopathic antidepressant representative/salesman - will now be portrayed by Broadway veteran Raul Esparza (pictured).
This actor has also appeared in the movie Find Me Guilty and and an episode of Spin City.
Fortunately, Reubens will be be guest starring on the show. He'll be playing a new (and equally quirky) character named Oscar Vibenius, a former olfactory expert who smells something a little different about Chuck.
In the meantime, Molly Shannon and Jayma Mays will still be coming aboard. Talk about their appearances and more in our Pushing Daisies forum.
Paul Reubens isn't the only goofy personality joining the cast of Pushing Daisies for a few episodes.
Sources confirm that former Saturday Night Live star Molly Shannon will come aboard the new show for a multi-episode arc staring in November.
She'll play Dilly Balsam, the owner of a salt-water taffy emporium that's set up shop across the street from the Pie Hole.
Sounds like a perfect piece of casting to us.
Move over, Paul Reubens. Another well-known guest star is coming to Pushing Daisies.
Jayma Mays - of recent Ugly Betty and Heroes fame - will be appear on the fourth episode of our new favorite show.

She'll play "Elsita, a woman who leads a life of windmillery (she lives and works in a windmill)," according to E! Online.
Sounds like fun to us.
As if we weren't excited enough for Pushing Daisies already, along comes this news:
PeeWee Herman himself, Paul Reubens, will guest star on the series. He'll portray Alfredo Aldarisio, a traveling homeopathic antidepressant representative/salesman. Sounds about right to us...
