When I saw the promos for the show, I was initially put off -- then I tuned into the first episode -- and I'm hooked. The story line is so emotionally moving -- the sadness of Ned being unable to touch Chuck and Digby -- the two living things he loves the most in life.
The show strikes so many emotional chords with me. I've even gone onto the ABC Website -- to the "Plant a Daisy" page -- and posted personal questions which I would ask the people I've lost in my life (not famous people) who I miss every day -- what I would ask if we could have only one minute more. Who knows, maybe some of those planted daisies will become the subjects of future episodes.
Then there's the writing -- Pushing Daisies is simply the most intelligently written show on TV. All those word-plays and hidden meanings concealed within the dialogue. But it dosen't stop there, the music, the costumes, the surreal settings -- like the windmill farm. I can't get enough of this "other world". Pushing Daisies despite its death-dwelling premise is more a show about how to live life than anything else.
Look at this last eposide. Olive convinces the Aunts to go out into the world -- initially with the idea of having them confront the "deceased" Chuck so that Olive can claim him for herself. But Olive's attachment to the aunts causes her to have a change-of-heart, with Olive protecting Chuck's aunts from discovering that Chuck is really alive -- and the subtle way Olive communicates her knowledge to Chuck.
I can't get enough of this show -- I just hope viewers give it a chance and they'll become enthralled -- as I have. Bravo!!
