this episode sucks! I really loved the pilot, and I was really disappointed with this episode. I was afraid that the novelty of the premise could not be extended for a whole season, but i never expected that the show would run out of momentum this early!

I hope this is just an rare stumble. I'll still check out the next episode. But if the next one sucks as much as this one, then I'm checking out.

Silly me to consider pushing daisies as my favorite show based on just the pilot. They should've just made it into a movie.

Oh well, at least Lee Pace still looks adorable. The type of guy you'd want to bring home and introduce to your parent :)

I thought the second episode sucked too!  I really did enjoy the first episode.  But the singing was too much for me.  The orginally from the first episode was there...but the quality was not.  I will also watch again next Wednesday...but if it is anything like that last one i'm out!

I was so excited about Pushing Daises and liked the Pilot as well.  I was disappointed with "Dummies," but I think that there is enough possiblity here for there to be at least one season.  I will hang on because a few good episodes is worth it for me.

Who was the guy that played the President of the car company?  I can't place him but he is very familiar.

Personally, I liked the singing. It was the biggest laugh-out-loud moment for me in the second episode. Olive is a great character.

That said, I think "Dummies" had so much oddness, so early in the series that it stretched the bounds of credibility for people. The writers have already asked viewers to accept a fantastic premise (Ned's powers), a quirky method of fairy-tale storytelling that reminds me of Tim Burton's work (e.g. During the first few frames of the pilot, "Big Fish" sprang immediately to mind), and characters with some truly odd personality traits. "Dummies" compounded this with a Dandelion-powered car and a company that used corpses to test the safety features on the vehicles. I'm still not sure how disposing of the crash test dummies and replacing them with corpses fit into the antagonist's nefarious plans- wouldn't dead bodies on strings in the closet make things, well, more conspicuous?

I think the third episode worked better because it grounded the fantastic elements of the series in a more realistic context (I say "more realistic" in comparison to "Dummies"; I don't think anyone watching this show expects or wants a hardboiled detective story). The episode at least tried to explain some odd character traits- for example, the asian character proud of his Confederate heritage benefited from the historical flashback, even if it was intentionally absurd.

Anyway, just my two cents. I really do like the show, and I want it to do well (I loved "Dead Like Me" and just discovered "Wonderfalls" recently. This show has an excellent pedigree). Good luck!

According to imdb.com, the president of the car company (Mark Chase) was played by an actor named Patrick Fabian. Apparently he's been on a lot of shows over the past 15 years, including "Veronica Mars", "Joan of Arcadia", and "Saved by the Bell: The College Years".

Just so you know Jarad, they actually do use bodies to test impact in real life (see "Stiff: The Secret Life of Human Cadavers" by Mary Roach).  They really do put them in leotards too, although they cover their faces to preserve their dignity.  The people who died in the episode were just people who died naturally (or in accidents) and had agreed to donate their bodies to science.  So, that's one aspect of the show that wasn't trying to be unbelievable.
